Now Bridget must team up with the Sergeant's son and childhood friend, Matt Quin, who cares about her (and she's afraid to admit that she cares about him too). Not everyone will come out of it unscathed, and some will not survive. But you must always remember the only rule of possession that really matters: the spirits lie.

I loved this book. Beneath a creepy tale about demon-banishing and intrigue and murder, was a sweet love story and a testament to family relationships. To be honest, the bad guy was a bit predictable. But really, that's my only issue with this novel. McNeil has an interesting way of writing, where you feel so close the character's thoughts that even though it's in third person, it almost seems like it's in first. Bridget was an easy character to like. Not many people liked her, but she was just fine with that, with at least one of her friends being gay, one that may or may not have been dabbling in the love that dare not speak it's name, and another that was to put it lightly obsessed with Bridget. Needless to say, he didn't like how things were turning out between her and Matt.

I'm hoping beyond hope that this is a series, because they were so many loose ends left frayed and I want so badly to see them sown back together. This is one of those powers that will never leave Bridget as far as we know, but maybe there's a way to make it all go away. Okay, I'm making myself excited for nothing because I am definitely not the author. But I met the author earlier today and she's so cute. She had on this black and green checkered dress with red peep-toes and perfect hair even though it was stifling outside. No, I'm not jealous...

I'm pandering. The point is that this one is way worth checking out, if not for the sheer joy of holding such a beautiful cover in your hands and knowing that this book, you can definitely judge by its cover. ...more
