This is the first book in a trilogy. It has vampires, witches, and daemons, but it is NOT Twilight. The main character is an academian at Oxford who specializes in historic papers about alchemy. She is a witch, a Bishop of the Salem Bishops. She meets a vampire and they fall in love. The story moves from Oxford, to France, to New England and is filled with great characters, especially Matthew, the vampire's mother.
