(4.5)Arundhati Roy was able to create a beautiful, timeless tragedy that left you in a state of loss for something that was not yours. The story is told in a whimsical fashion jumping in time, held together by her poetic writing. At the beginning the seemingly sporadic time changes was off putting, but eventually flowed into the beautiful luscious story that it was.

Overall I liked this book and found it interesting, but it was really hard to read when the twins were narrating the story because things got really fragmented and confusing then. I don't think I understood half of what I was reading but the plot was interesting nevertheless. Again, a book with mostly unlikeable characters that you rather read for the language, although I'd say the story and how it was executed was also a strong point. ...more
