I enjoyed this little book very much. I've never read anything related to Maori before, I think, and this was a wonderful beginning. I don't know if this book is based on real Maori beliefs, but if it is (which I'm guessing) it just makes it all the more fascinating and very different from, well, German stories, myths, tales.
There was Maori language interspersed in the story which mostly went over my head. But it made this whole book complete.
