However, it's still a powerful coming of age story that is sometimes difficult to read. It's only 307 pages but it took me nearly two months to read. Parts of the book, where Kambili lives with her aunt, meets her grandparents, moments when she is free of father's tyrannical rule and physical abuse are the best parts of this book.
