Enjoyed the sociopolitical history of antebellum New Orleans, especially the different castes of black citizens, but found the mystery a trifle convoluted with too many characters. I may have been distracted during the reading, but I'm not entirely sure I know what went down. This will require a more in-depth re-read in the future. ...more
