Okay, Jodi Picoult is notorious for producing tear jerkers. She'll make you fall in love with a character, and then they'll die, or something unexpected happens. This was one of her sadder ones, and I've read pretty much all of her books. I just couldn't really enjoy it the way I wanted to. It was pretty much gloom and doom the whole way through. Surprising enough to say, I don't think I'm going to take this one off my bookshelf again.

This book is brilliant. This is my first Jodi Picoult reading and i'm hooked on her style of writing. To start with I was a little confused with her chopping and changing of characters but it didn't take long before i was engrossed in this mystery. Quite disturbing in areas and overly graphic but i think she wants meant for this. Definitely a thought provoking novel that challenges your own belief system and family morals.

I was told that this book had NO surprise ending. But I feel it does. It's not one of my favorite Picoult's books -- gets a little drawn out with the trial part. Good book on teen suicide and depression. Expectations of others and how to live up to these expectations.
