I am conflicted over this book. I chose it for book club because 1. there was a reading challenge that required I read an espionage thriller 2. this book is highly lauded as perhaps the best espionage thriller ever written 3. the author actually had a history in espionage so there was more likely to be a realistic bent as opposed to the more cartoonish or overbaring 007 style book.
