I'm going to admit right now that those three stars a bit harsh. I have been reading way too many fantasy books for book club recently, including this one, and my ability to appreciate them has been waning. It is not a genre I dip in often on my own and that is because I often feel it is a revisiting of the same tropes and becomes repetitive if you read too much of it.
