I'm hooked!!
Loved this book despite that it's a YA novel. I don't even like sci fiction novels but decided to read this anyway and couldn't put it down. Sure I had some questions like "how do cyborgs shower" and what made the author choose to set the story in "Beijing" but that's just me. Overall, I really am glad I decided to read something I normally wouldn't and can't wait to read the next book in the series. :) ...more

I watch a lot of book-tubers and they all have this book on their shelves. I thought ok I'll try this book out and see if I could possibly get into this series. I predominately like contemporary anything but not sci-fi.
I thought this was a fantastic retelling of one of my favorite childhood classics, Cinderella.
I was really engrossed in this story and I thought the narrator did such a great job with all the different voices.

Even though the big reveal was fairly obvious to me from somewhere around the sixth chapter, I really enjoyed this book. The twist on the Cinderella story was inventive and original. I really appreciated that Meyer didn't feel obligated to match the beats of the original fairytale.
