Retellings are ten a penny these days so it must be a challenge to find a new way of looking at a classic tale; luckily Meyer has more than risen to that challenge. This is not your classic "repaint the villain" retelling (a la Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West - which I also loved!) but a completely new twist set in a dystopian world. At first I was a little skeptical since the series is based off fairy tales but set in a futuristic world with robots and cyborgs and other weird things and I thought that the whole concept seemed kind of strange, but I am glad I decided to read this book finally. It flowed pretty fast when I actually had time to sit down and read and I found myself wanting to continue reading even when I didn't have the time to and had to put it down. The ...more

I’ve been obsessed with a book and had to simply write a review about Cinder by Marissa Meyer. There’s been a huge hype about it a few years ago and I finally caught up on it after I had some thoughts about it. Because if something gets too hyped, I automatically hate it. Don’t ask me why, I simply do not know it myself. And since I put this book on my Popsugar Reading Challenge list, I kind of had to read it. It was worth it is all I can say now.
