This was a really fun book. I listened to the unabridged audio version, which was excellent. Most of the book is like a good mystery with some sci- fi elements that are pretty heavy in parts. This was a book I decided to listen to based strictly on Amazon/Audible's recommendation and I am so glad I did. I would recommend this book to anyone who is looking for an old-fashioned mystery with a big modern twist. I rate this 3.5 stars rather than more just because in my opinion, the first two-thirds

Peter Clines is very quickly moving to the top of my favorite author list. This book was intriguing from the start for me and had me hooked till the end. I love it when an author layers in so many other good works into a book. I also love it when ordinary things that we've begun to take for granted are given a new purpose and explanation in the context of a well written story. There's not much more I can say about that without giving away the story.

From the outset, I knew this story was going to be quite a ride, and boy was it ever. I did start to get a bit impatient and began to yearn for the end, but that is because I am not a staunch sci-if fan. I am glad I finished it because the story ends on a satisfying note.
