The focus of this book is obviously the story of Henriette Lacks and her family, but the greatest theme is presenting the world with the tragedy of the lack of ethics in the U.S. medical community.

Emotional. I wasn't expecting that. I was expecting informative, but definitely not emotional.

Hearing the story of Henrietta Lacks and her family had me in tears. Yes, I learned what happened with the Hela cells, but the human story (family, friendship, love, and loss) is what pulled me into the story.

For me, this was profound and Rebecca Skloot did such a wonderful job of showcasing this family, but most especially Henrietta and Deborah.

Could not put it down. Very well done! My heart broke for Deborah and all the suffering she went through. Was happy to learn that Zackirrya found peace.
