I wish this book had been better because I LOVED the hook of this book being each chapter being inspired by another book. Sadly, none of the books or stories used had been inspirational to me. Also the main storyline had the potential to be really good, but came off a bit like a cheap dessert: satisfying for a moment but in the end not worth the calories.

Thanks to my cousin Sara for recommending this book. It's a great read. AJ isn't an easily liked man, but things happen in his life that alter him just enough to be not such a curmudgeon and maybe just enough so you care about what happens to him.

A mildly-entertaining book with some exceptional quotes. It was a very good "beach/summer read".
