I'm giving this book 5 starts because I loved it. It had all the things I love about a book...it was an easy read (no deep thought required or hidden meanings), it had a love story that wasn't cheesy, it was about books (who DOESN'T love a book ABOUT books), and it was about a small town and community coming together. I thought the story started off strong; I'm a sucker for books about books and pen pals, even better when they're in the same book. The concept of two people on different sides of the world exchanging books ignites me. The plot twist of (view spoiler) even intrigued me; however, I think the story would have been better if (view spoiler) because I found the other characters boring and underdeveloped.

Sweet story. A dying woman invites Sara, a pen pal, to visit her in her dying town in Iowa. The pen pal is from Sweden. The two women, not close in age, have a love of books in common. This is the story of the trip and Sara's impact on the town. Lots of books are mentioned or quoted. There are three reference lists in the back of the book, but it didn't help me when I didn't get a reference. :-) Recommended for any book lovers.
