I finished this dramatic and fun time travel mystery thriller book today. For the first almost half of the book I wasn’t too sure if I really liked it or not. It seemed to be told in the third person but with the narration fitting the character that was being presented. As an example, when we get to a chapter titled “Mal” we are presented with language which is in the third person but as if being told by Mal himself. I enjoyed this book, though at first I had a hard time getting into it. It was a little difficult to follow the story line in the middle since it keeps jumping between people and places. But once the story got further underway, I found myself really enjoying it. The premise is interesting and gives a new dimension to a novel about a serial killer.

The writing and the obvious attention to historical detail made this book magnificent; however, I would like to have known more about the origins of the house. I thought the ending was disappointing and the story felt incomplete.

I read this book a second time and my concerns remain; however, the story is haunting. I'm sure I'll end up reading it again at some point.

Each individual was very interesting, and kept me going through the book. But the ending was a true waste of a great idea, in my opinion.

All the thought into how this whole 'thing' comes full circle seems to have been forgotten and the end just ended.
