I don't know what I was expecting for sure, but the title did lead me to believe that I would be doing more crying than laughing. I was wrong.
Yes the book has a dying girl, and that part is sad, but Greg is so funny throughout that I found myself laughing out loud a numerous occasions.
Neither of these 3 people were really friends in my opinion, but I guess they were as close as they could be. Greg himself referred to Earl as more of a colleague and he didn't start being frie ...more

This book was just OK for me. It would probably appeal to teenage boys, but it definitely rides the PG-13/R-rating line with so much language. As I was reading, I just kept comparing Greg, the main character, to any given John Green character, and it just couldn't match up. I felt like it was trying to be a John Green novel, and there is no way it could be. I think I would have liked the story much better from Rachel's (the dying girl) point of view.
