Loved the audio version of this. Probably the best audiobook I’ve ever listened too! Great story!
Where have I been? I can't believe I waited this long to finally get this book off my TBR! Let's get real, I'm not a fan of Science Fiction. 4 stars, as it took a while to get use to the writing style and for the story to pick up. But I absolutely love this. As a gamer myself, and work with huge gamers, I loved the idea of life actually being a video game. If you love games, you have got to read this!
I was so disappointed with this! I might eventually put more into this review but right now I'm just sort of annoyed. Wade is so creepy and how he acts with Artemis is problematic. I think the concept was interesting but it just didn't work out for me.

I LOVED THIS BOOK!!!! Loved it! I recognize that I am a huge nerd, the book was about gaming, virtual reality and then referenced all things 80's, so it reached my inner geek and fangirl. The story was riveting and the plot was so engaging (treasure hunt through virtual reality with dungeons and dragons and war games references!) that I finished it in one day. When I first started this book I really liked the story, as well as, the pace. Halfway through, however, I felt it dragged a little and found myself thinking "just get to it already". I'm not a gamer at all nor am I into the "geek" life that is mentioned throughout the novel so maybe if I was, I would have enjoyed the book a little more. Even though this book is about gaming in the future and I wasn't sure I wanted to read it, I found it hard to put down. It has a post-apocalyptic feel to it, but with a twist.

This book I found mostly self-indulgent. Not really sure why everyone was/is so into it. I feel like I was reading my older brother's 16-year-old attempt at writing a novel. Boy plays video games, gets rich, thin, and all-powerful because he is so horrendously dedicated to his particular geekdom. Throw in a few dues ex machinas and a flimsy romance and you've got yourself a dystopian adventure novel.
