I listened to the Audible version of this novel with two friends on the way back from a beach trip. It was read by the author, which was nice because you know she is putting emphasis where she intended. I found Alice incredibly sympathetic. I empathized with her family, even those who handled her rapidly declining mental health worse than others. Genova did an excellent job portraying the many different ways caregivers and loved ones might respond to finding out their wife/mother/coworker/friend ...more
