I absolutely loved this book! I was hesitant to read it because so many books are set in WWII and I was getting a little tired of this setting. I recommend this one and The Nightingale because both are different from what you'd expect. Both are set during the war, however the focus is on the characters and their relationships.

I wasn't eager to begin reading this book. Having read many WWII-era books, I wasn't sure I was ready for more of the same but this wasn't entirely typical. It kept my interest, although I think this is one that I might have enjoyed more in the theatre. Via audio book, it wasn't always immediately apparent which was a flashback, etc. It was very thought provoking, which I always appreciate. Not the ending I would have chosen, but fitting.
