Amazing. Lyrical language, compelling plot -- Doerr focuses on the human in World War II rather than just the war itself. Marie-Laure, the blind girl, is a masterpiece. Werner is a beautifully-conceived foil. Highly recommended: you won't want to put it down, & you won't want it to end! ...more

I loved this book! I could not put it down. The story weaves through the lives of so many characters. I also love that it had the aspect of a young German recruit during WW2. I have honestly never thought about that point of view before. This is a great read and I am sad it is over.
