What Members Thought

I read this book in 5 days, I think that’s a record for me. The book is a YA story about a boy growing up in a village where everyone can see everyone’s thoughts, which they call “Noise.” People can also see the thoughts of animals. The main character Todd has a talking dog and he is the best thing in this book! There is another strange thing about this village. There are no women, and Todd is the last young boy.

Can't wait to read the next one!
What originally snagged my interest was the idea that everyone can hear each other’s thoughts. Imagine a world where every single thought, no matter how innocent or depraved can be heard by those around you. In this series, it’s very appropriately called “noise” which makes perfect sense considering the endless stream of thoughts, whether awake or asleep, from anyone nearby is bombarding you all at once. ...more

This book is, unexpectedly, GOOD. I didn't like it at first but by the third chapter, I was hooked. For some reason, the pacing of the book (the action, the challenges that Todd & Viola goes through) reminds me of the Hunger Games somewhat. The ending is a bit of a cliffhanger but I guess that's just the author's way of leading you to the second book of the trilogy which I DO intend to pick up sometime soon.
