This is one of my favorite books - I was fortunate enough to come across it in a used bookstore one summer many, many years ago. If you liked the movie, you'll love the book, which goes into much greater detail than the film. For example, did you know that the Spaniard had to fight his way through 9 booby-trapped levels to finally reach Wesley in the pit of despair? It's true! Giants, pirates, evil princes, witchdoctors, heroes, hunchbacks, swordfights, narrow escapes, death, dungeons, damsels in distress----all come alive here in "The Princess Bride". But, oh what a clever, clever twist Goldman (and Morgenstern, of course Morgenstern!) puts on the conventions of fairytales past, proving himself an absolute master of storytelling and imagination and his work nothing short of a modern classic for all ages.
