Somehow I made it through high school and college without ever having read this. Now I know why it is considered a classic.
I just read this for the first time. What a wonderful book!
Story of a family in the south, takes place over the course of one summer, from the young girl's (Jem) point of view. An aunt who is stuffy, and uptight visits and tries to make them change their ways. Coming of age book.

It's not hard to see why this book is an enduring classic. Vivid, heartfelt and wrenching, it seems just as relevant for our current times.

Read it in high school, and is still one of my favorite book/movie combos!
This is a classic and a must read.
