First off, I love Stephen King's short fiction. I love how he sets horror right in regular day-to-day grind settings and how he builds the truly horrible out of believable experiences. I read this book at least half way through loving it. It turned for me when the stupid sexist crap jumped into driver seat and took over. Trigger warning: domestic abuse.

I’ve been thinking about reading a Stephen King novel for a while now (the last novel of his I read was The Green Mile in ... 2000?). I was choosing between ‘Salem’s Lot and It, and since It is 1100 freakin’ pages long, I chose this one. I powered through it because King makes the pages fly, but I felt like for at least the first half, he was much more interested in the peccadilloes of the community than building any sense of dread.
