I went into this book thinking it would be a quick read, a deeper/better explained source for the 1997 movie. For the most part, my expectations were blown away. Allegations of militarism and facisim aside, i believe heinlein was doing what all great writers do, get people to THINK. A lot has been written about this one, and I’ve re-read it as an adult, trying to remember what I made of it as a teen in year where I read over 150 novels and you know, had teen shit going on. Suffice to say I think I missed some of the nuances.

Shelves: science-fiction

This book glorifies war and being a soldier. There are long monologues about war and fighting. There seems to be very little action. Things are just described. The enemy is largely unknown and the troops rally around the objectives of their leaders. It was mildly interesting.
