What Members Thought

4.5 stars really. This is a long book, and it felt like it. Hugo digresses a lot, and over explains things, hence it being 4.5 stars. I loved the chapters that included his characters the most. I wanted to read this book because the musical left out so much (for good reason), and the book answered all my questions, abundantly.

I feel it took me a lifetime to read, but I want to immediately turn to the beginning and read it again.

This is a great book and there's a lot to love in it. But much of the book didn't grab me and didn't move me. Ultimately, I'm glad I read it but I'm also glad to be done!

I started reading this in 2012 and got about 200-300 pages in. I might try again someday.
