We learn so little about Martin Luther King in school and what we do learn is so simplified that I can hardly say we learn anything at all (except, of course, the vague and sanitized notion of civil disobedience) and learn nothing about Malcolm X except that he was generally some kind of counterpoint to King. I’m forty years old and I’ve never made an attempt to correct this failing, so I started to feel like a real asshole.
