Still a great read, even as an adult. This book SPOKE to me as a child, since I too, lived in 'the Big Woods' of my area, not a neighbour to be seen, just like Laura. I am 50 years old, but I have never read any of the Little House books nor seen the TV series. One of the reasons might be that I grew up in Europe and they just weren't popular where I came from. I only listened to this one because it was on a list of books that I am working my way through, so I thought I'd give it a chance since it is considered a beloved children's classic.
