What Members Thought
This is my second Lovecraft story, after the famous Call of Cthulhu, and I was similarly underwhelmed by it. I admit that the mythology he created is interesting, but I find him to be a very clumsy writer when it comes to the execution. Reading this, and Call of Cthulhu, I could never get past his flat characters, unrealistic dialogue, and vague descriptions of the horrors that are often 'too terrible to put into words' to feel any of the intended fear.
