Loved it.
This is James Baldwin's first major work and it describes one day in a 14 year old boy's life. A day when he discovers his place in his family and in his community. The book explores slavery and racism in stark terms through the life experiences of the major characters. It also explores the complex relationships between men and women, along with the complexity of adolescence.
