I love this type of story that harks back to simpler times when the most important things in life were faith and family. Louisa May Alcott wrote this story in 1881, but she set the story in 1821 in rural New Hampshire. It is a simple story of illness in the family at Thanksgiving time, and the children stepping up to try to prepare the Thanksgiving meal in their parents' absence.
