I will say that I did not enjoy Cooper's long, flowery style. It was quite stilted and took away from enjoying the story itself. Thankfully, I chose to read this book in small bites over a 2.5 month period. It helped me stick with it. I will also say that I appreciated Cooper's respect for the Indian tribes who inhabited the land at the time of the French and Indian War in America in the 1700s.

Very desperately needs an editor, and a revised edition of this could be spectacular. Mixed languages, names, and inconsistent pacing makes this read more challenging than it should be. At times sublime, and at others confounding, I will always just chose to watch the film.
