Classic children's fantasy, but a bit slow for adults
It is well known that this, along with the LOTR trilogy, is a prime example of classic children's fantasy writing. That much cannot be disputed. I loved the story, but the translation got in the way for me...and I feel a little dim admitting that. If I were fluent in Italian, I have a feeling the prose would have been perfect. Other than that, I would be happy to read literary fiction like this every single day.
