Read this as a child and loved it. When I can still remember the story after all these years you know its got to be good.

Really cute idea and book. I LOVE the commentary that the 'writer' has to the lawyer, but I'm a sucker for stuff like that. ;) The girl's desire for a glamourous life totally sounds like me at that age--and this whole fiasco sounds like something I would do if I had a sibling and actually lived in a cool place! It makes me really want to go back to the MET now. =)

4.4 A really great little book! Written in 1969 it still felt to me very apply for today except for how excited the kids got when they found a quarter. Lol
This would be a great family read aloud.
There is a 35th anniversary afterward by the author who tells how the museum and NYC has changed since her original writing.

One of my absolutely favorite books growing up. Who hasn't wanted to run away? And who hasn't wanted to spend the night in a museum?
