I mean this was written in 1930!! Fun to read and see how our language has changed. As far as I know the greatest noir type mystery. The real Sam Spade plus I have seen the movie enough times that I felt like I was reading the screen play. I also learned that people drank coffee and bourbon TOGETHER.

To me, this story was 190 pages of ‘tell, don’t show.’ Lots of conversations. Sooooo many conversations about actions of the past, occurrences the night before, replays of events that happened previously. Ugh. I really didn’t like it.
