What Members Thought

The Crucible displays how mass hysteria overtook the Salem area in 1692 and 1693. Revenge was sought and easily found by casting aspersions of witchcraft on the subject of the accuser's grudge. The small community intertwines to jump on the bandwagon and vilify a good portion of the population resulting in hangings and guilt. Good proof that relationships DO matter and sins do not occur without consequences.

I love Arthur Miller. No matter the era, The Crucible still applies to what occurs among people in a community on a relatively frequent basis. The pointing of fingers, the hushed talk behind people's backs...all seems to remain true. The Crucible is one of my favorites.

Full cast. Dramatic! 5* And those who bore witness & judged others in this work were definitely not nice people. But abridged & I didn’t know so gets 3*. Averages out to 4*. Oh well, I’m sure I got the gist; I was listening for the backstory of another book.
