I had the impression, that this story was a happy sweet story about the life of Mr. Chips, or Chippings. I found it very melancholy, and at times sad. Mr. Chips did find a meaning, and enjoyment in his life, through the students he taught. His brief happy marriage changed his life, and the way he taught, and interacted with his students. He built a life long experience of relationships with his students, and the faculty of his school. He followed the lives of his students past their school years
