My least favorite Greene work so far. I couldn't warm to Sarah's character and found her cavalier attitude toward her lovers annoying. I suppose I should welcome the rarity of a woman in fiction whose men love her ferociously while she keeps them at arms length, but I'm not sure that women who act like men is what I'm after.
