What Members Thought
I am terribly disappointed by the end. The first half was intriguing and piqued my interest. The last half went further and further downhill.
Religion IS an important theme to the author and of this book. Love relationships too.
I will definitely try more by the author because I enjoy the writing, but I must honestly state that my original concern with reading a book by Graham Greene has been confirmed.
I just cannot say more without giving spoilers. (view spoiler) ...more

From IMDb:
On a rainy London night in 1946, novelist Maurice Bendrix has a chance meeting with Henry Miles, husband of his ex-mistress Sarah, who abruptly ended their affair two years before. Bendrix's obsession with Sarah is rekindled; he succumbs to his own jealousy and arranges to have her followed.

2.5, meaning the writing was fine. Greene is a good writer, I didn't really like the characters in this book, I found myself frustrated by them.
