I have never been a fan of Science Fiction. The few books I have read from this genre were forced upon me by teachers and professors -- and I detested most of them. But I have made it a personal goal to read more Classics this year and so I have joined several challenges. This book was chosen as part of one of those challenges. And, wow, what a revelation. My Dad was going to read this in 2011 after he had read it in High school. He died of cancer before he ever got the chance. I enjoyed 1984 more than i thought i would and was made even better by always keeping my dad in mind! Very interesting book
Newspeak, doublethink, telescreens, very interesting ideas. I've read worse, but this definitely wasn't my favorite. Everything that is horrible and wrong in this world, eventually wins in this book.
