What Members Thought

I really liked the book, it was certainly a whirwind from the beginning to the end of events and a large cast of characters that were mostly thrilling.
It wasn't always an easy read, some of the topics were hard to bear, Dotheboys school is a horrible horrible place.
I would have given it 5 stars if it weren't for Mrs Nickelby, she's one of the most annoying characters I've encountered in awhile. I was glad it ended only that I'd not have to read her endless, nonsensical, narcissistic chatter an ...more

Nicholas Nickleby is one of the best Dickens titles I have read. Say what you will of his penchant for wordiness he definitely makes you care for his characters. He puts them through the wringers of life and they come out winning your hearts and minds. His villains are truly evil but human and his heroes are good with flaws. I really enjoyed this one.
