What Members Thought
Upon preparing for the 10th season of Literary Gladiators, which we will begin filming in May, I was thinking about nominating For Whom the Bell Tolls for the material list for the season, as Ernest Hemingway's short stories have received a good responses from viewers. One of the customers at where I work, though, suggested that we go over The Old Man and the Sea, for it has a lot to say about life. Ari also gave this book a vote of confidence, so I went forth with this book. I can definitely se

If you're looking for an "Intro to Hemingway" book to read, this would be the one. Short, but powerful. This book is a great example of the power of description that Hemingway is so brilliant at writing.

If you've never read Hemingway you could do a lot worse than starting here. It's a hilariously male/ego-centric novella, but then, I am the target audience as a result. It's a really good story, but luckily doesn't overstay it's welcome.
