Listened to the audiobook. It was very calming amongst the chaos going on in the world. Really appreciated it during my drives to/from the hospital as it took my mind of things, but it didn't stand out as a masterpiece. I'm glad to have experienced it though. ...more

Hemingway's The Old Man and the Sea is now one of my favorites. I was hesitant to read it first because I was doubtful that someone can make fishing interesting. I was pleasantly surprised, however.

The language he uses seems softer and more detailed than his other works. The old man isn't just a stereotypical man who needs to prove he is stronger than nature. Instead you'll find an old man who's thoughtful and compassionate. He thinks before he acts. Sees fish as his brothers, and is remorseful
