I have listened to half and I cannot stand it any more. Endlessly long and boring. If you have read one Trollope, you really needn't read more. The same themes are repeated over and over and over again. The same humor repeated umpteen times just isn't funny any more. Let me be clear, read one Trollope and you'll laugh. Read more and you will start to be bored.

In Trollope's (1815-82) longest novel, he skewers an English society that worships money, and he does so skilfully enough that the reader doesn't mind hating the characters as long as s/he can find out what happens next. ...more

This is a long book, but is one I absolutely enjoyed. It is remarkably suited to the way we live now and I am very happy to have had it to read NOW. I have recommended it to readers I know and will be giving it as a gift to several people I love,
