I have been wanting to read this book for a few years now. So when I saw the book in a book store in Madrid I jumped at the opportunity to buy it. As you might have guessed I had some considerable expectations built up when I opened the first page. And oh boy it did not disappoint. The beauty of Caddy. The tragedy of Quentin. The bitterness of Jason. And Benjy. Oh lord. Benjy.

My mother always told me that her father's family had come from the same place that Faulkner grew up in, an the genealogical research I have done shows that this is mostly true. So I always wonder when reading Faulkner if any of the characters resemble my relatives. In this case, they were long gone from Mississippi before the 1920s, but I still wonder.
