I really didn’t know if I wanted to dive into something like this at the start of the year. I’d hardly read a page of anything in the second half of 2023, but New Year’s had come and past and I had a copy of Demon Copperhead my wife had bought me begging to be read. I was eager to read it, but I had the misfortune of learning that it was a kind of re-telling of this monstrous classic.

Haven't read Dickens in a long time and don't think I ever read this one. With an endless stream of fascinating, quirky, engaging characters (David Copperfield being the least interesting), it was the best book I've read in a long while.
