This was much better than I had remembered (having made half-hearted attempts in the past) Not as satisfying or happy an ending as Comte de Monte Christo but very excellent. It's hard to understand how people have such difficulty relating to "classics" like this one when great chunks of it are a bunch of profligate drunkards gambling and scheming on how to get their next dime... ...more
