PAP II, Spring 2019: Repeat teaching, year two.

PAP II, Spring 2018:

Did a short read/listen through this one again for teaching it to the sophomores the end of this year. I still find it brief and insightful about politics, but little of interest outside of that. I am pleased to see my kids enjoying the last few chapters as the crazy ramps up though.

A great allegory about Communism and the Bolshevik Revolution. This is quick read for those studying worldviews. It's a great example about why Communism can never work. Learning a bit of history will help make it even easier to understand.

Old Major - Marx (and Lenin)
Napoleon - Stalin
Snowball - Trotsky
Squealer - Molotov, minister of propaganda
Minimus - poet & admirer of Stalin
Rebel pigs - opposition that is silenced and executed, symbolizes the Great Purge that occurred under Stalin

Another book ending that freaked me out The Grapes of Wrath style.

I loved the satire (not sure if this is the right word). I'm interested enough to do more research on Orwell/Blair though.
