2025 Reread: The language is beautiful, and I can see that there is a reason this one is loved, but I just didn't enjoy it.

2024: It seems I may be one of the few people on earth who doesn't like this book. I understand that Marquez uses magical realism throughout. I understand that this book is a classic. I get it that it is an epic story covering a huge span of time and using flashbacks and flash forwards brilliantly. Unfortunately, none of that helps me to enjoy this book. I found it disjointe

I read about half of this. It was so surreal and mystical, I couldn't get involved in the story line and kept forgetting who was connected to whom ,esp. when mnay of the men began to have the same name. Haven't bothered to pick it up again. ...more
